The Citizenship Process in the United States.

Form N-400 is the application for naturalization used by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The procedure of submitting a naturalization application is known as becoming a citizen of the United States.

Before submitting an application for U.S. citizenship to the USCIS, you must determine whether or not you meet the requirements to do so and rule out the chance that you are already a citizen of another country. You will be eligible for all the privileges accorded to U.S. citizens after you take advantage of the process to become one.

You can become a citizen of the United States either at birth or later in life. The steps outlined below are for those born outside of the United States who wish to apply for U.S. citizenship.
